Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Souq Atelier leather distinct?

We work exclusively with full-grain Moroccan leather, selected for its natural strength and unaltered surface. Unlike corrected or coated hides, ours retains the original grain, allowing it to develop a personal patina over time. Each piece is cut, stitched, and finished by hand in our Fez workshop, ensuring quiet consistency rather than industrial uniformity.

How should I care for my piece?

Leather is a living material that responds to touch, climate, and use. We recommend keeping your item away from prolonged direct sunlight and excessive moisture. A soft, dry cloth is sufficient for routine dusting. Should the surface begin to feel dry, a light application of a neutral leather balm will restore its suppleness. Avoid harsh chemicals or synthetic cleaners.

What is patina, and will my item change over time?

Patina is the natural evolution of full-grain leather. With regular use, the surface will soften, deepen in tone, and develop a subtle sheen unique to your habits and environment. This is not wear; it is character. We design our pieces to age gracefully, rewarding patience with a richer, more personal appearance.

Are there variations in colour or texture between pieces?

Yes. Because we use vegetable-tanned, full-grain hides, slight variations in tone, grain pattern, and surface markings are inherent to the material. These are not flaws, but evidence of natural origin and artisanal handling. Each piece carries its own quiet distinction.

How long does production take?

Our pieces are made to order or produced in small, deliberate batches. This allows our artisans to maintain precise attention to detail without rushing the process. Typical preparation time is between seven and fourteen days, though bespoke requests may require slightly longer. You will receive a notification once your piece is ready to ship.

Do you offer repairs or aftercare services?

We believe in objects that endure. Should your piece require attention beyond routine care, we offer a restoration service for stitching, hardware, or edge finishing. Please contact our atelier directly with photographs of the item, and we will advise on the most appropriate course of action.

Where do you ship, and how are orders packaged?

We deliver internationally using tracked, insured courier services. Each order is carefully wrapped in unbleached cotton and housed within a sturdy, reusable presentation box. The packaging is designed to protect the leather during transit while remaining simple, sustainable, and entirely free of unnecessary plastic.

What is your returns policy?

We want you to feel entirely confident in your purchase. Unused items in their original condition may be returned within fourteen days of delivery. Please note that leather goods showing signs of wear, scent, or exposure to moisture cannot be accepted for return. Refunds are processed within five working days of receipt.
